If it can not be readily accessed for specific items of information, or if it is too large for "browsing" as a manager searches for unknown conditions, this may suggest the use of a computer-supported approach. 2. High Volume of Manipulation If the over-all problem-solving process involves a large amount of computation or data manipulation, then computational power is desirable. This situation might occur either with a large data base and relatively little manipulation or with a smaller data base and very high amounts of computation.
