It also has indexes of scriptural and other citations (to be used with caution), a bibliography, and Halporn's appended edition of the De Anima. However, it is marred by a throng of misprints, and the index of names and things is very inadequate, being confined to the title rubrics. The only English translation published is that of 1886 by T. Hodgkin, The Letters of Cassiodorus. ' Hodgkin was a learned authority on Ostrogothic Italy, but lacked literary sympathy for Cassiodorus, and worked from Garet's inferior text.
